01 / TRAUMA & RECOVERY
When the past feels
close to the present.
An experience may be over while your mind and body still respond as if danger could return. We can begin with what you are noticing now, at a pace we discuss together.
I work with adults and veterans affected by combat and non-combat trauma, military sexual trauma, childhood sexual abuse, and repeated experiences that have shaped safety, trust, or self-worth. Your history matters. You do not have to recount every detail to begin talking about its impact on your life.

WHAT YOU MIGHT NOTICE
There is room to
start here.
People experience this in different ways. You may recognize one of these moments, or you may bring something entirely different.
- A sound, place, tone of voice, or relationship moment brings a strong reaction.
- You stay on guard, withdraw, feel disconnected, or find rest hard to reach.
- An old belief about safety, blame, or trust keeps showing up in present relationships.
- Work, sleep, attention, intimacy, or everyday choices feel affected.
THE ORANGE GLOW LENS
From a moment
to a practice.
Here is one example of how we might slow a moment down. Your own history and goals would shape the work.
01What happens
A brief message from a supervisor lands with unexpected force. You notice tension in your body and an urge to retreat or respond immediately.
02What may be underneath
Together, we can look at the cue, what your body noticed, and whether the moment echoed an earlier experience or belief. We do not assume every reaction has one explanation.
03A response to try
If it fits, you might orient to where you are now, name one neutral detail in the room, and decide whether the message needs an answer today.
04What we review
We look at which cues mattered, what you tried, and how it felt. Then we adjust the next step without blaming you for having a reaction.
These are examples of how we might work together, not a personal assessment. Your needs and goals shape the approach.
HOW WE WORK
Insight with
something to use.
Trauma work can include understanding triggers and recurring beliefs, practicing ways to respond in daily life, and reviewing what is changing. We decide together what feels useful and manageable; there is no requirement to force a disclosure before you are ready.
Our work is active: we start with what is happening, identify recurring patterns, practice responses between sessions when appropriate, and review what you notice in daily life and in how you feel. We adjust as we learn what fits. Mindfulness, gratitude, or affirmations can be optional tools if they fit your goals.
